Week of 03/17/25

My Recent Activities

Tuesday was a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting.  Here are a few highlights from the agenda:

  • Authorized a new capital expenditure budget line item for $1,150,000. The new line item will be used for the land purchase of Assessor’s Parcel Number 006-160-060.
  • Reviewed financial statements and details for General & Power Systems Fund for January 2025.
  • Approved several CEQA Notice of Exemptions

I had several other board and committee meetings on my calendar, including:

  • Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) monthly board meeting. The agenda includes multiple items of public interest, but the primary one is likely “Approve 2025 Regional Active Transportation Program Funding Recommendation.”
  • Sacramento Area Council of Governments REI Working Group Meeting
  • Yuba Sutter Transit monthly Board meeting (agenda)
  • Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) Carrier of Last Resort (COLR) Ad-hoc Committee Meeting
  • Northern California Water Association (NCWA) Executive Committee Meeting

Additional items on my calendar included an event hosted by Valley Vission about how wildfires impact the environment, public health, and the economy; agenda setting for the board of supervisors meeting on 3/25; a special board workshop for Yuba Water Agency; a SACOG bus tour of Rocklin; and a meeting with the new RCRC transportation and water policy staff member.  Yuba County participated as a sponsor of the 2025 Industrial Asset Management Council (IAMC) Spring Forum in Sacramento, and I represented Yuba County at several dinners over the weekend related to the forum.  There was an OPUD board of directors meeting this week, which I did not attend, but you can find the agenda here.

I received an invitation from RCRC to attend a dinner hosted by Canadian Consul General Rana Sarkar with key stakeholders from Canada and California focused on safeguarding and championing the Canada-U.S. trade relationship.  Several county supervisors, state legislators, and representatives from the California business community attended the dinner, and we focused on continuing our mutually beneficial trade partnership and friendship.   I’m concerned that the trade war will hurt Yuba County consumers and the local economy by impacting agriculture and our booming housing market.

This week, there were no community events on my calendar.

Looking ahead to this week
